Held in fall semesters, MAMTS: Team Battle is a gameshow style team math tournament that explores a variety of mathematical literacy skills such as pattern recognition, number sense, deductive reasoning, and problem solving.

Format:
Team members cooperatively construct arithmetic expressions in 20 minutes.
The objective is to claw 5 target numbers of choice from a 10x10 random number board, satisfying the following requirements:
Rules:
32 tiles
(Division E) (A) 2 sets of number tiles, (B) 3 sets of basic arithmetic operator tiles, and (C) 3 sets of parentheses tiles.
(Division M) (A) 2 sets of number tiles, (B) 2 sets of advanced arithmetic operator tiles, and (C) 3 sets of parentheses tiles.
Target number is valid represented as an arithmetic expression using
All number tiles must be used as single-digit numbers and may not be joined together to form multiple-digit numbers.
An expression may contain a maximum of 20 tiles.
The standard order of operations applies.
Target numbers must read left-to-right or top-to-bottom on the number board.
Target numbers must not overlap on the number board.
Scoring:
Round 1 Score = 10 x (total length of the 5 highest valid target numbers) − (total number of tiles used)
In case of ties, the team with total in the construction of the successfully clawed target numbers is ranked higher.
Format:
Team members cooperatively solve 10 problems (10 multiple-choice / short-answer pairs) in 20 minutes.
Correct (multiple-choice) = +1 points
Correct (short-answer) = +2 points
Incorrect / Blank = 0 point
The objective is to match each pair of number sequences that shares the same missing value.
Scoring:
Round 2 Score = sum of points earned from Round 2.
The maximum Round 2 Score is 30 points. There is no penalty for incorrect or blank answers.
In case of ties, Round Tiebreaker Algorithm is used.
Format:
Team members cooperatively solve 15 problems in 30 minutes.
There are 15 questions arranged in a 5-row triangle structure
5 multiple-choice problems (worth 1 point each) in Row 5 (bottom)
4 short-answer problems (worth 2 points each) in Row 4
3 short-answer problems (worth 3 points each) in Row 3
2 short-answer problems (worth 5 points each) in Row 2
1 short-answer problem (worth 8 points) in Row 1 (top)
For each short-answer problem in Rows 1-4, the answers to the two contiguous questions one row below feed into the problem in a relay fashion.
Scoring:
Round 3 Score is calculated as the sum of points earned from all correct answers in Pyramid Relay Round.
The maximum Round 3 Score is 40 points. There is no penalty for incorrect or blank answers.
In case of ties, Round Tiebreaker Algorithm is used.

Top 8 teams with lowest Main Round Scores are announced and invited to compete.
Main Round Score is calculated as the product of all three Main Round ranks.
For example, if a team achieves Rank 3 in Round 1, Rank 10 in Round 2, and Rank 8 in Round 3, that team’s Main Round Score is 240.
In case of ties, higher Round 3 score, followed by higher Round 2 score, followed by higher Round 1 score, breaks the ties.
Top 8 teams are assigned Seeds 1-8 according to Main Round Scores.
Format:
Team members cooperatively solve speed-and-accuracy problems on stage.
Qualifying teams are divided into two groups of 4 teams (Group A: Seeds 1, 4, 5, 8 / Group B: Seeds 2, 3, 6, 7).
Two semi-finals matches, one each for Group A and Group B, are played to determine the 4 teams advancing to the finals match.
The highest seed team (Seed 1) decides whether Group A will play in the first or second match of the semi-finals matches.
Procedure:
Questions are projected and read, one at a time with a 50-second limit.
Teams may write and submit their answer at any time, once per question. Teams cannot change answers once submitted.
Each team starts with 4 life points.
If a team answer incorrectly or fails to answer, that team loses one life point.
In case of all teams answering correctly, the last team to have submitted the answer loses one life point.
If a team reaches zero life point, that team is eliminated. The rest of the teams regain one life point each time a team is eliminated.
If multiple teams reach zero life point at the same time, the order of elimination always favors higher Seed.
Each semi-finals match continues until 2 teams remain to advance to the finals match.
Higher Seed between the third-eliminated teams of the semi-finals matches advance to the finals match.
For the finals match, the 4 advancing teams are reassigned Seeds 1-4 based on the semi-finals match performance.
Finals match continues until 1 team remains to be declared the tournament champion.
Ranking:
The standings within each semi-finals Group is determined based on the order of elimination.
Final ranking
1st-4th places: Based on the order of elimination in the finals match

Gold Medals are awarded to the following winners:
Team: 6th-10th place (each Division)
Endurance: 1st-4th place (overall)

Scholarships are distributed to the recipient team coaches in cash envelopes during Award Ceremony.
Certificate of Distinction is awarded to all winners as digital certificates delivered via email within 3-5 days after each tournament.
