Only pencils and erasers are allowed in the testing area. Participants must bring ready-to-use pencils and erasers. No sharpeners will be provided. Scratch papers will be provided.
No calculators, electronic devices, timers, or watches (including analog) are allowed in the testing area. There will be digital displays that show the remaining time. Multiple verbal reminders (e.g., 5-minute and 1-minute warnings) will be announced.
All personal items (including backpacks and water bottles) must remain with the Coaches or Chaperones during Main Rounds. Medical items are exempt. Participants will have short breaks in between the rounds.
Coaches and parents are not allowed in or near the testing area. Non-participants are asked to remain in the Auditorium during Main Rounds.
No food or drinks in the Auditorium at all times!
There is no medical staff on duty. In case of an emergency, our team will contact the Coach on the team roster. It is imperative that the Coach and/or an adult representative is always present at the tournament premises.
In case of any rule incompliances or irregularities observed, MAMTS team reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to take necessary measures including disqualification of the suspected participants.
Test papers should remain face down with pencils down until Head Proctor officially instructs everyone to begin. Pencils must be down immediately when Head Proctor announces the end of the testing time.
Participants must remain seated and quiet before, during, and after each round. Participants may not leave early and will be dismissed in an orderly fashion.
All test papers, answer sheets, and scratch papers will be collected before dismissal.
Any questions about the tournament problems (e.g., asking what a term means or requesting to clarify a question) will not be answered. Participants will simply be advised to re-read the problems and try their best.
The required unit (label) is included in the answer sheet and is the only form of the answer that will be accepted.
All answers must be clear and legible.
Team members are free to talk and cooperate during the Team Round. Please be mindful about shouting out answers loudly. Four test papers and one answer sheet for the Team Round will be provided to each team.
In case of tied scores, correctly solving more difficult problem will be more advantageous for rankings.
The order of problem difficulty is determined by calculating the total number of correct answers across all participants for each problem.
For example, if 50 participants answered #5 correctly while 70 participants answered #8 correctly, #5 is considered a more difficult problem.
If a tie remains between participants (with identical sets of correct answers), MAMTS organizers will notify the pertinent participants and their coaches on how the ties will be resolved prior to conducting a tiebreaker.
